Paul Klee is a painter who also plays the violin and who writes poems. This has an impact on his art, where the picture is no longer just a picture. Klee doesn’t represent the world as we know it, he makes it visible the way it is: in movement and ephemeral, lunatic, bizarre, magnificent.

Paul Klee was born near Berne to German parents. He married a German wife but he was expelled from the country in 1933. Back in Berne, he never officially became Swiss, as he died before the transition was completed.

Today, Paul Klee is considered one of the collaborators of modern art. We learned to appreciate his paintings and to collect his works. We built him a centre, a place where his art and his words continue to have an effects on us.

Paul Klee teaches us how to see!
