«Hidden Metropolis» encourages visitors to construct their own structures, patterns and networks, so that a metropolis (ancient Greek μητρόπολις mētrópolis, literally "mother city") is created in the Creaviva.

Structures and networks grow unconventionally in all directions and form unstable equilibria that collapse again. The collapse is always followed by a new beginning. The networks are initially independent and isolated, but over time they develop into a larger whole. Pipe sections, branches and connections are the construction kit. Thoughtfully or intuitively, piece by piece, subsystems emerge that make up our Metropolis in all its diversity.

Which object appears repeatedly in Sarah Morris' works?
In filigree manual work, a joint work is created that develops over the entire duration of the exhibition.

At a drawing and painting table, various tools invite visitors to freely and playfully create their own small metropolises, while a black box presents alternating photographs and video recordings of the networks and patterns created at Creaviva, as well as a surprising, artistic and detailed structural analysis by artist Fabienne Sieger - a new perspective on the city of Bern.

Special event: The Silent Monday pilot project will be held as part of the interactive exhibition on June 17, 2024. The offer was created in collaboration with Autism Switzerland and is explicitly aimed at people on the autism spectrum. All people who are sensitive to stimuli and their companions are welcome.Further information will follow in April.
