What are celestial colours, diabolical ideas and heavenly fantasies? And who has been to hell and back via the road that is paved with good intentions?

At times we feel like we are in seventh heaven, and we hear of stories that sound like hell on earth. «Heaven and Hell» is not only a favourite topic among children and comic books with heaven’s gates and the flames of hell, but simultaneously a powerful and visual opposite that, for many, shows us where we are today, where we are going and how we are getting there in our earthly lives.

The interactive exhibition «Heaven and Hell» opened up new worlds for us. In a playful and stimulating way, with paper folding, ornaments, sounds, pictures, smells and other aspects of heaven and hell, the loft of the Creaviva Chidlren’s Museum was transformed by these legendary opposites that even as children we tried to grasp without ever having been there ourselves.

Heavenly or hellish - whatever it may sound, smell or look like in these worlds – at the Creaviva you can experience a taste of this from the world we know best as reality. With the exhibition ‘L’ Europe des Esprits’ as our backdrop, we were attempting to make the magic of the supernatural, just a little bit more tangible.
