There are seven giant cubes in the Creaviva Children’s Museum loft which look like they are about to be sent somewhere. Sent somewhere into the world. To Copenhagen, Brussels or Amsterdam. They hide the unknown and arouse curiosity, almost as if they were messengers from other worlds - hidden stories waiting to be unveiled.

Boxes are places for treasures, valuables and fragile belongings. They lend protection from rain, light and inquisitive glances. They transport porcelain cups, machines, bananas and great works of art. Sometimes they even carry animals, like snakes – like cobras. Boxes can be found in storage rooms with high ceilings, under the stairs or hidden and dusty in an attic. They obscure the unknown, making them mysterious and inexplicably tempting. They are symbols for the poetics of space.

On the basis of seven painting titles from Cobra-artists and Paul Klee, the Creaviva invites young and old to creatively and playfully explore different themes hidden away in seven different chests. The spectrum of hidden stories ranges from journeys into the circus world to the creation of a White Cube, and from revival of the ‘twittering machine’ to a meditative contemplation of the heavens.
